A bottle of Ballantine’s (R)

D A Bm G / A G / D A Bm G / A G / A Bm / A Bm G A

I bought me a bottle of Ballantine’s
I thought it might help me to pass the time
Me and the bottle and the verandah light
Staring up at the stars moving round in the sky
And nursing my mem’ries of you / Sittin here thinking of you
Counting the shooting stars as they fade away too / as they dance round the moon / as they blossom and move

D A Bm G / A G / D A Bm G / A G / A Bm / A Bm G A

The frogs are busy croaking they’ve got nothing to say
The cows moan the blues that’s how it seems anyway
Somewhere in the distance a lonely dog bays
I guzzle/sip at my whiskey and wish I could pray / send up my praise
And nursing my mem’ries of you / Sittin here thinking of you
Counting the shooting stars as they fade away too / as they dance round the moon / as they blossom and move

G A G A / Bm A / G A / G A Bm A

Out here in the night I can feel the universe breathe
We’re all just specks of dust blown along on a breeze
But somehow love can fool / hold us for a while

D A Bm G / A G / D A Bm G / A G / A Bm / A Bm G A

Now the bottle is empty and the sun will soon rise
The stars are disappearing behind the new sky
But even though I can’t see them I know they still shine
And they wait to return and spin round one more time
And I’ll be nursing my memory of you / And I’ll be sittin here thinking of you
Counting the shooting stars as they fade away too / as they dance round the moon / as they blossom and move

And the universe embraces us and wraps us up in its smile
