One stop in Dubai and then we’re back on the plane
Running away from the rain
It’s springtime in Melbourne and I can’t wait to hold her again

30,000 feet down there’s a war
Up here I watch the flight path as it flickers and crawls
Like a bird for its seasonal home
I’m drawn across the miles back to Footscray where the lawn’s gone unmowed

Each second ticks by like the glaciers do
But I’ve got pills that can loosen my bones
Now it’s only 12 hours ’til I’m circling Melbourne and home

Melbourne’s only five hours away
Back to the sun … and I’ll be searching the crowd for her face
