A E F#m D x 4
A E D
I was headin for the city train, gonna see the tigers and bulldogs game
Five years living on my own, but The sun was shining on a new spring day
Oh you never know just what life will throw your way
I was trapped in despondency that had held my hopes at bay
When out of the blue everything was changed
As I walked down Paisley Street, I saw her come outa some 2 dollar shop
She wore a straw coned peasant hat with a bright red tassel comin outta the top
Oh man I was just a pair of eyes
I’d been in darkness and she was the light
It felt like everything would be alright
D E / D E / A E F#m D / A E D
I was no great believer in what some call fate
But if I’d been just been one more minute late
I’d’a been half pissed as the bulldogs kicked the game away
Another disappointment just another empty day
She was eating a banh mi roll when I saw her board the Highpoint tram,
Im not sure where I got the gumption from but I rushed up and I told her who I am
She was surprised but didn’t turn away
We rode the Melbourne trams around for almost all the day
By evening we still had a world to say
I was no great believer in what some call fate
But if I’d been just been one more minute late
I’d’a been half pissed as the bulldogs kicked the game away
Another disappointment instead of smiling through that shining day x 2
smiled and said she liked my shirt
Sick of working I walked out that door, I wasn’t certain what life had in store
And then the plague came falling from the sky, the world was sinking in a tar pit tide
Oh you never know just what life will throw your way
I was trapped in despondency that Had held my hopes at bay
When out of the blue everything was changed
with plans to drive the US south outdoors
