Bradmill (L)

G Am C G / G Am C D

Down at the Bradmill factory
Where once the looms did roar
That’s where I met my Rosie
On the factory floor
I loved her when I heard her
Her laughter dipped and soared
Like the sea birds playing
Out along the shore

I loved her then

And I love her still

She is the/my rose of Footscray

When I turned and saw her
Her eyes so wild and free
I knew we’d be together
Like the shore is with the sea
We spoke with such abandon
Like we knew each other well
And in a heartbeat I was certain
That together we would dwell

We’ve made a life together
We’ve shared the good times and the hard
Our kids grew up and found their way
Now our grandkids fill our yard
Sometimes when I’m home alone
My mind flows back in time
Back to when we started out
On that factory line

Now the factory’s empty
The birds roost in its roof
The ships that sail from foreign lands
Have long silenced her great looms
The young ones dance all through the night
Where my Rose and I first kissed
I wish them all the best of times
And memories like this

And when she smiles there’s a light inside me shines
And when she’s down it feels like something in me dies
Oh yes we fight but in the end We’ve managed to be kind
Standing in the rushing flow of time

And sure the world keeps moving on
But dearest Rosie

There was so much for us to say/I had so much
So much for us to tell

Like in some other place and time
We’d

I asked her if she’d tarry
And walk the … with me

I knew that I would love her
that we must love each other
She held me in her
I was
I knew that I was captured
