My baby moved to Queensland — said Hobart got her down
My baby moved to Queensland — said Hobart got her down
She left her raincoat on the hook and flew north out of town

She said ‘Hobart’s still a prison, too many people know my name x2
And I’ve never been to Queensland, I can be nameless once again’

Well I knew she wanted something, but she couldn’t call it by its name? x2
She kept using words like freedom, I kept hearing words like blame

Well I thought I had the picture I was the gaoler and the chain x2
But it was me stuck there in prison, staring out on Hobart rain

What’s so great about the sunshine, that you need to see it every day? x 2
Then she said that she missed winter, she said she missed the rain

I flew up north to meet her, I hoped I could set her free x 2
I took a chance to bring her back, to where the rainclouds kiss the sea

Now my baby’s back in Hobart, the roaring forties at our door x 2
We look down to Antarctica, as we walk upon the shore.
