Scar 1 (L)

A E D E
She’s got a scar that spreads all the way from her cheek to her chin
She looked me in the eye and said don’t you dare ask me anything
She said I’ll go with you around the world I’ll come to your bed Just as long as I’m living life straight ahead
Well she’s a force of nature, she shows me things I’ve neither heard of nor read

D E / D E / A E D
Well sure she’s a little bit scary
But then again she’s a little bit scared
And anyway when she comes up real close I just can’t say no

She said ‘The past is just a bunch of someone else’s stories
They’re never quite true and often they’re just outright lies
Whatever, It’s all a waste of time and those stories are all dead to me now
I’m nothing more or less than what you see in front of you anyhow

Well sure shes a little bit scary
But then again she’s a little bit scared
And anyway when she comes up real close I just can’t say no

Well yeah I reckon that she’s done her time
Everybody’s got their secrets and so have I
Now here we are here riding on time and tide
And all I know is that she glows like a coal and she sets me alight

Well I don’t care about her tattoos and I don’t care about her scars

I don’t care about her silences or the great black holes in her past

There’s so much I guess that I’ll never know but then I ain’t no open book/there’s places I won’t let her look

All I know is that as I get older

love don’t fit neatly like in some dopey

She’s got some tattoos made with a knife and an old ballpoint pen
About someone called Frank in a heart that’s a gangrene shade of red
Well I guess I’ll never know just who he was but I’m guessing he’s not on any station of the cross
I’ve got an idea why she’s so hard but not why she’s so soft

Well sure she’s a little bit scary
But then again she’s a little bit scared
And anyway when she comes up real close I just can’t say no
