The spine cracks in a low down sky
Heaven spits venom in a lone man’s eye
There’s a truck full of speed rolling over the hill
This man is loaded he’s got time to kill
There’s something lurking out on the road tonight
It’s hanging round like smell of death tonight
The radio screams out western hymns
The wind wails sadly about lust and sin
The time is right for the slaughter to begin
Hot diesel burns evil in a racing head
The air rips, thick with the words she said
There’s a tiny light shining in the sulphur grey
The good lord knows it cannot be saved
Somewhere a tiny tear rocks the world tonight
Just bad luck they were on the road tonight
The world seethes with these tiny pains
The world shatters in a pounding brain
The world cries, ‘Take me back in your arms again’
The morning drips over like a bloodshot egg
Hot coffee and crumpets in a crumpled bed
The man with the stories mentions prices and death
The world is built on his distant breath
Somewhere a tiny tear seeds the earth with doubt
Somewhere a fevered mind frames a pious shout
The Lord works in strange ways they say
The Lord giveth and then taketh away
Madness and faith are exactly the same
There’s no point in hope and no point in blame
