I’m just an old cat sitting in the sun
My mouse chasing days are done
I’m just sitting here warming my bones
Just basking in the twilight zone
I’m stuck to the ground
My body’s letting me down
And of my nine lives I’ve less than half one to go
When I was younger I roamed through the night
Spraying my seed left and right
I’d sit singing my songs to the moon
Then I’d sleep into the afternoon
Chasin mice in my dreams
Eating sardines with cream
Never thinking it could all end so soon
Oh everything shines fresh and new when you start
The world is just a ball of string
It’s fresh and it’s new and it’s got all its parts
And we quietly pray as we sing
The young cats are still walking their beat
When they fall they still land on their feet
Their time will come too, as it must
That they’re losing their soft kitten fluff
We all end up ex
Staring at our own death
Wondering if what we’ve done is enough
My ambitions have flown
And waiting for the kingdom to come
